ONE CAST TAZER LURE

I once made lures under the name of Rough as Guts lures. One design was made by tracing a leaf onto paper and then enhancing it. Anthony Barnard of Deep River lures helped me sort out the angle of the bib and the depth of cut for the bib slot and the lure was made for the first time. After the body was cut out on a bandsaw, it was hand carved with a stanley knife and sanded to its final shape, a lexan bib and hardware were attached and the Tangle was born, so called as the back of the lure was on a straight line angle to the tail. Angle became Tangle. The lure was passed around among my friends and it proved to be a capable fish catcher. The shape and size was particularly suited for trolling for Bass and Yellowbelly and it caught many bass at Wivenhoe dam in South East Queensland. It was also suitable in the creeks and rivers in the area catching Bass way over the 50cm and Murray Cod on a trip to the Qld Nsw border rivers. I made many to sell to friends and kayaking mates and they proved to be a sucessful lure especially on the Bass. So with the start of One Cast Lures, the Tangle was refined and became the Tazer. The Tazer is made from aged Australian red cedar, and is made in such a way that it is consistently the same shape and dimensions each time. A Tazer is ninety five millimeters overall and has a body length of sixty five millimeters which is the same body size as the Tangle. The shape has changed slightly to make it more streamlined and to give it a narrow shimmy in the water. Early versions of the Tazer had a lexan bib fitted, and while it worked well the Tazer now has an alloy bib. The alloy bib gives it more head down and it starts to dive immediately once line has been wound or trolling begins, it trolls to a depth of approximately five metres. The bare alloy bib also gives the lure some added flash which attracts fish.
